Programs
The EDWC is dedicated to fueling growth-oriented businesses in Washington County. To help achieve its goals and boost the county’s economy, the Board launched several programs targeting quality job and sustainable wealth creation.
- The Economic Gardening program was designed and implemented to host feature products and services geared to growth companies and existing businesses.
- The Toolbox program was launched to invest in, diversify and deepen the County’s portfolio and economic assets of new tools and support for business growth activity.
- A Marketing Plan program was designed to attract attracting expanding and relocating businesses to the county as well as strengthen the relationships among existing businesses.
- Revolving loan funds were established to provide the county with funds for business startup and expansion and incentive funding for business growth.
- The Talent Pipeline was established to align workforce development, education and healthcare with economic development to create a seamless pipeline of middle and high-skilled workers.
- The Driver Industry Business Attraction program was developed to implement a targeted business attraction program to build key relationships and focus on industries with driver potential for the county.
Phase 1 implementation has resulted in establishment of three new committees (economic gardening, toolbox and marketing) in addition to retaining two long-standing committees (executive and revolving loan fund).
